Why does every living thing struggle to survive and procreate, if the only inevitable outcome is death?

I would have to say that no human could give you a correct answer to that. Personally I think we either exist for reasons far beyond our comprehension or we are just organisms that eventually die out and no event in our existence has any purpose whatsoever
