How do I handle my dislike of improper English? Both written and spoken?

It can be frustrating to try to read or to hear, but remember...American English is a living evolving language. The use of words, the spelling, and the pronunciation changes. New words are created as needed. It's hard to try to stay a of the changes! Words that were made up 20 years ago now appear in the dictionary. It's a good thing the language evolves as needed, too, or we'd still be writing funny-looking f's for s's like they did on the U.S. Declaration of Independence.
